April 30th- their "half birthday" today!

Boo hoo hoo!!! :( My babies are growing up WAY TOO FAST! My gosh! Its insane. It seems like JUST yesterday we were bringing those little 6 pound peanuts home from the NICU and now...here we are with infants- rolling, scooting, babbling, giggling, eating INFANTS! Where in the world does the time go?

On another note- Jason & his parents got me a camera for my birthday so I can do some "professional" style pics of the girls and possibly even do my own business someday...Anyway, I attempted our 1st photo shoot with the girls and these are what I got:

Twins are 6 months old...

Where in the world does time go? I never realized how fast time really passes until the peanuts were born...my gosh! They will be 6 months old on the 30th and I am sort of sad...but THRILLED we survived the 1st six months with twins- its "supposed" to be the hardest part. I think the twins are easier than I thought but also harder than most others think.

Here lately I have been getting really pissy with people who think twins are so cool and would be so fun. Granted, I think my twins ARE cool and fun but I don't think that ANYONE has a clue what twins are really like and the amount of work it entails. Maybe they do and I am not giving them enough credit but it seems like there are those that don't understand and those that just want the "fame" of having twins. I doubt they would want to go home from the hospital and leave their babies in ICU. I doubt they would want to pump breastmilk for TWO babies round the clock. I doubt they would want every possible hardship that a baby brings-- times TWO. Colic times two. Teething times two...

As moms of twins we also get two times the smiles, two times the giggles, two times the kisses and love...just two times the work (and then some). Pay attention to me's times two..two babies to watch over, two babies to listen to. Two babies to raise at once- no breaks in between!

I guess that's why twin moms are chosen with great selection- its a special "club" to be part of--- "twin mommy-hood"... AND I LOVE IT!!!!

"Sick Day"

Little peanuts are having a "sick day" today. They are snotty and congested and so when they lay on the floor to play, it runs down their throat and they cough or barf all over. I had to change them twice so I just said "Forget it! Sick Day today girls!"...I tried to do oatmeal and bananas with some breastmilk for their breakfast but they can hardly eat solids right now with the runny noses so I am doing NO solids today and very little floor play time today. They are napping in their chairs with blankies and watching "Aladdin"...HA HA! I think I get "cool Mom" points for that one!

Anyway, here are some pics of my little sickies! Poor girls!

Sniffles...

Poor little girls got their very first runny nose and congestion! Last night they were up off and on all night and at 3:30 AM I was using my "boogey sucker" on poor Parker. She seems to be worse than Addisen so far but we'll see how it plays out. Jason is out getting a vaporizer, Vick's baby rub and Johnson's vapor bubble bath tonight. We have a cool mist humidifier but I hate blowing cold air in their room all night. To me it seems backwards to blow cold air into our congested babies' room- some doctors say its the only way to go but it seems like cold, humid air would make it worse and a warm mist vaporizer would "decongest" much better...I guess like all other things, it will be trial and error!

Our friend Christina!

The girls and I have a new friend- her name is Christina! She was my Physical Therapist and we are now friends outside of the PT Clinic! She is so super sweet and loves the girls (and they love her)...she came to hang out yesterday and was playing with the girls as only a PT can!! They are trying so hard to get their legs under them to crawl/scoot but they can't hold all that weight yet on their arms. Christina was showing them some cool moves to try and Parker was eating it up! Here are some pics from their 'mini-PT session' with their new Auntie Christina!

The Reality of Twins!

This picture says it all! Yesterday I took them to Target and to see my mom at her work...they proceeded to scream bloody murder at the bank because of all the strangers in their faces. By the end of the day and when getting them ready for bed, I was exhausted (as you can see in the picture). This week I have had peas explode from the blender and splatter paint my entire kitchen and both babies lime green, poopy diaper blow outs, wet beds, constant spitting up, anti-social babies and a dirty house! Add all of that onto the 12 bottles per day, 2 baths, 2 babies to dress and change, 12-15 diapers per day, 2-4 solid feedings per day (depending on how motivated and rested I am)...What fun! HA HA! Although, you do get double the smiles, double the giggles, double the love...just double the work too!

Enjoy the last couple of night's pictures of our silly girls!

Big Girl Chairs!

We got our big girl chairs (aka- high chairs) on Sunday! The girls look so tiny in them which is ironically sort of nice since I feel like they are GIANT babies and growing too fast. This week they are eating my homemade yams! They are really good (yes, Jason and I both tried them) and nice and sweet. I attempted two meals per day today- a breakfast type food (bananas and baby oatmeal today) and a lunch/dinner feeding with this week's food...it was hit or miss. I think they are only up to one solid feeding per day so far.

Parker eats really neat and clean and Addisen loves to touch it, smear it and sneeze it all over me and herself. She grabs her bib and rubs her face in it and rubs her fists all over her face with food in them. Nice.

Last Synagis Shot Today!!!

RSV season is coming to a close and the girls got their very last Synagis shot today! They weighed the same weight today- 13 lbs 4 oz each! AWW! My big girls! Its sort of sad that my tiny 5 lbs preemies are a whopping 13+ lbs now but also more fun. Now they can ride on my hip- they even squeeze with their chunky little legs and wrap them around me- its so cute!

We also went to see my friend and her almost 1 year old son...he just adored the girls, wanted to touch them and give them kisses. BUT, he did sort of act like his house had been invaded and taken over by the rolling little girls...nothing that some Gerber cheerios couldn't fix- he was trying to be a good little "sharer" and give the babies some baby cereals! AWWW!

Well, naps are almost over and craziness will follow shortly...

Welcome- Blog entry # 1!

Wow! I finally did it! Everyone kept telling me to just create a blog to share all the fun stuff and pictures of the girls but the thought of figuring it out terrified and exhausted me.

Its 9:45 and I am off to bed soon...the girls are sound asleep, Jason is watching TV and I am drinking a beer in the office. Its like our final little bit of peace and quiet for the day.

Ok, I just wanted to open this up and I have to go figure out how to post pictures now!
